How can I import fields from other sources than Atfarm and John Deere to YaraPlus?

In addition to Atfarm and the John Deere Operations Center™, YaraPlus supports the import of field boundaries from a variety of other platforms. Watch the video or follow the steps below to import your fields.

Supported systems

You can import fields from a variety of sources, either with or without field names. Depending on the data structure, YaraPlus may recognise the field names in the imported file. If not, the field names won't be included in the imported file. In this case, YaraPlus will automatically assign each field a name based on the nearest street. You can rename your fields at any time after importing them.

We've tested the sources listed in the table, but the list is not exhaustive. If you have files from another source, feel free to try them.

Have you tried importing from a different system and it worked (or didn't)? Let us know! Contact our support team and share your file or system name. We'll use this to improve our list of supported systems.

File requirements

To ensure a successful import, please follow these guidelines:

  • Only ZIP (.zip) or KML (.kml) files can be uploaded.
  • The Shapefile (ZIP) must contain the following Shapefile components: .shp, .shx, .dbf, .prj.
  • Only one ZIP or KML file can be uploaded at a time.
  • The maximum upload size is 5 MB.
  • Fields must have clearly defined boundaries and coordinates.
  • Fields must be located in the same country as the selected farm in YaraPlus.
  • Only fields that don't already exist in YaraPlus will be imported.

Import fields – step-by-step guide

  1. Export your field data from your preferred system in one of the accepted file formats.
  2. Log in to the YaraPlus web app from your desktop browser.
    1. Note: Import is only available in the web app, not in the mobile app.
  3. Click on the Farm dropdown in the header, then select Import.
  4. Select Other portals and sources as the source and click Continue.
  5. Select the farm to add the fields to from the top dropdown. Farms can't be switched past this point.
    1. If you don't have any farms in your YaraPlus account, the imported fields will be added to an automatically created farm called Farm 01, which you can rename later.
  6. Click Upload file and select the file containing your fields from your computer, or drag and drop the file into the upload area.
  7. Once the file is uploaded, you'll see your imported fields.
    1. Larger imports may take more time.
  8. Click Continue to crops.
  9. Check that the crop for each imported field is correct. If not, deactivate the box next to a field to deselect it and add the crop later.
  10. Click Confirm to add the crops to the selected fields.

All your fields can be found on the farm page. If necessary, you can now rename fields, add crop types, adjust the seeding date and edit field boundaries.

Troubleshooting import errors

If the upload fails or not all fields are imported, it's usually due to file formatting issues or missing data.

Upload fails

If the file doesn't upload at all:

  1. Double-check that the file meets the file requirements.
  2. Try uploading the file again.
  3. If the issue persists, please contact our support team and share the file you're trying to upload.

Some fields weren't imported

If your file uploads successfully but some fields are missing, this might be due to:

  • Missing boundary data or coordinates
  • Fields already existing in your YaraPlus account
  • Fields located in a different country than your selected farm

You can manually add the missing fields in YaraPlus after the import.
