How can I create a fertilisation application?

In YaraPlus Atfarm, you can create fertilisation applications for a single field or for multiple fields at once.

Depending on your needs, you can create a single application, a split plan with several applications for one field, or use bulk creation to create one application for each selected field.

You can then add or edit fertiliser details and link a variable-rate application map if needed.

Before you start

Before creating fertilisation applications, make sure that:

  • The field already has a crop type assigned.
  • If you want to create applications for multiple fields, the selected fields have the same region, crop and production goal.
  • If you want to link a variable-rate application map, the map has already been created for the same field.

We don't currently take fertiliser restrictions into account when creating fertilisation applications. Please make sure your fertiliser application complies with local regulations.

Quick start (5 steps)

Choose the option that matches what you want to create:

  1. Bulk creation: Open YaraPlus > Atfarm > Fertilisation applications > New fertilisations
  2. Single application: Open a field > Fertilisations > Create application
  3. Split plan: Open a field > Fertilisations > Create plan
  4. Enter growth stage, fertiliser and N-rate
  5. Click Save or Create to finish

The exact steps differ slightly depending on the selected flow.

    • The coverage percentage entered refers to the coverage of each field and will be applied to all fields selected.
  10. Click Create.

One application is created for each selected field with the status Planned.

You can view them under Atfarm > Fertilisation applications and on the field page under Fertilisations, including a fertiliser summary and total nutrient supply chart.

3) Create a single application

  1. Open YaraPlus Atfarm:
    • Web app: Hover over the sidebar to expand the menu and select Atfarm.
    • Mobile app: Tap Discover in the bottom bar, then select Open Atfarm.
  2. Select field:
    • Web app: Select the field from the left navigation bar.
    • Mobile app: Select Fields from the top navigation bar, then select the field from the list.
  3. Go to the Fertilisations tab.
  4. If there are already applications for that field, click New application. Otherwise, click Create application under Single application.
  5. Select the growth stage.
  6. Click Select a fertiliser and choose the fertiliser to apply.
  7. Enter the N-rate.
    • This is the average nitrogen rate to be applied across the field.
    • You can use the Yara N-Tester to determine the optimal nitrogen rate for your next application. Then click Select N-Recommendation and choose a recommendation.
  8. The following values are updated automatically. Adjust the values if needed.
    • Dosage
    • Total amount of fertiliser
    • Applied area
    • Field coverage (%)
  9. Click Save.

The application is created with the status Planned.

You can view the application under Atfarm > Fertilisation applications and on the field page under Fertilisations, including a fertiliser summary and total nutrient supply chart.

4) Create a split plan

Use a split plan to divide fertilisation into several applications for one field across the season.

Note:

  • For supported crops, YaraPlus can recommend splits, growth stages and N-rates based on your crop, region and N-demand.
  • The Yara recommendation is based on field trial data and covers mineral fertilisation only.
  • You can adjust or override all suggested values.

Proceed as follows:

  4. Click Create plan under Split plan.
  5. Enter the N-demand.
    • This is the maximum amount of mineral nitrogen from fertiliser that you want to apply to the selected field in this season.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. Select the number of splits.
    • You can create one to four applications.
    • This can be adjusted during the season.
  8. Click Continue.
  9. Define the growth stage and N-rate for each split.
    • The total planned nitrogen is shown at the bottom of the page.
    • The sum of all split rates must match the entered N-demand.
    • For certain crops, you can now choose to use the recommended split plan with the suggested values, or switch it off and enter your own.
    • The growth stages and N-rates can be adjusted later on to match what you've applied.
  10. Click Create.

The applications are created with the status Planned. Open each application to add fertiliser details afterwards.

You can access them under Atfarm > Fertilisation applications and on the field page under Fertilisations, including a fertiliser summary and total nutrient supply chart.

5) Add or edit fertiliser details

After creating a fertilisation application, you can add or update the fertiliser details.

This is especially relevant after creating a split plan, because the created applications initially contain the planned growth stage and N-rate, but not yet the fertiliser product.

You can edit:

Single application

  1. Open the application.
  2. Select or confirm the growth stage.
  3. Click Select a fertiliser and choose the fertiliser to apply.
  4. Enter the N-rate.
    • You can use the Yara N-Tester to determine the optimal nitrogen rate for your next application. Then click Select N-Recommendation and choose a recommendation.
  5. Review the automatically updated values.
  6. Click Save.

Several applications at once

Use bulk editing if you want to apply the same growth stage, fertiliser or additional details to several applications at once.

You can't define different values for each selected application in the bulk edit flow.

  1. Go to Fertilisation applications.
  2. Click Bulk actions, then select Edit fertilisations.
  3. Select the applications you want to edit.
    • Only applications with the same region, crop, production goal and status can be edited together.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Enter the values you want to update.
    • The same values will be applied to all selected applications.
  6. Click Save changes.

  1. Open the application.
  2. Click Link existing application map.
    • If needed, click Create application map first and create a new map for the field. Once created, click Link to event to link it to the application.
  3. Select the application map you want to use.
  4. Click Use this map.

Once the map is linked:

  • The growth stage, fertiliser and additional details are automatically filled from the map.
  • If you want to stop using the linked map and edit the fertilisation details again, click Remove variable map to edit details.

7) Mark an application as applied or delete it

Once your fertilisation application has been carried out or is no longer needed, you can:

Troubleshooting

If you're stuck, start with the quick fixes below.

Creation issues

I can't select several fields for bulk creation Multiple field selection only works for fields with the same region, crop and production goal.
The Create or Save button is greyed out Make sure all required fields are filled in, for example growth stage, fertiliser and N-rate.
I can't create a split plan A split plan can only be created if the field doesn't already have fertilisation applications.
I created a split plan but can't see the fertiliser product yet This is normal. After creating a split plan, open each application and add the fertiliser details individually.

Editing issues

I can't edit several applications together Bulk editing only works for applications with the same region, crop, production goal and status.
Some values change automatically when I enter the N-rate This is expected. YaraPlus Atfarm automatically updates related values such as dosage, total amount, applied area and field coverage. Adjust them if needed.
I can't change the fertilisation details after linking a map The linked variable-rate application map controls the fertilisation details. Remove the map if you want to edit the values manually.

Variable map issues

I can't link a variable-rate application map Make sure a variable-rate application map has already been created for the same field.
The application was auto-filled from the linked map This is expected. The growth stage, fertiliser and additional details are taken from the linked map.
I want to edit the application manually again Click Remove variable map to edit details in the application.
